Celtics’ Evan Fournier will not travel with team on West Coast road trip

Speaking to the media ahead of the Boston Celtics’ seventh and last game of a long home stretch, a tilt against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens shared some unfortunate if not entirely unexpected news about veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier.

Asked about the recently-acquired wing currently out in the NBA’s health and safety protocols for the second time in a week, Stevens replied that Fournier “won’t be traveling with us” on Boston’s coming west coast road trip. It is not clear whether the Frenchman is COVID-positive or simply in contact tracing, he has already missed his third game in a row after playing just four with the team since being dealt to the Celtics from the Orlando Magic at the deadline.

Boston plays the Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers on the road trip before returning home to face the Golden State Warriors on April 17, meaning Fournier will not likely suit up again for the Celtics until at least that contest.
