Celtics devoured by Hawks in Atlanta: Boston shredded 127 – 112

The Boston Celtics continued their downward spiral Wednesday night, falling in spectacular fashion to the Atlanta Hawks on the road 127 – 112, allowing the Hawks to score with ease, particularly from beyond the arc, where Atlanta shot just under 55%.

The Hawks actually shot better from 3 than they did overall at 52.9%, which should give one an idea of the level of defensive intensity shown by the Celtics for most of the contest. Forward Jaylen Brown lead the team in scoring with 17 points and 5 assists, veteran guard Jeff Teague added 14 points while a trio of Celtics chipped 13 points apiece — Jayson Tatum, Tristan Thompson and rookie Aaron Nesmith.

For the first-year player, the night was something of a positive, with Nesmith also hitting 3 of his 4 3-point attempts.

Two-way guard Tremont Waters also had his best game of the season so far with 11 points in just 8 minutes of play, hitting all 4 of his shot attempts, including 3 from 3-point range.

The Celtics keep finding new ways to find rock bottom in recent days — hopefully this time, they’ve hit bedrock.
