Celtics cut the Nets 118-110 despite Brooklyn’s fourth quarter comeback attempt

The Boston Celtics fended off a late push by the Brooklyn Nets to get back into a tilt the Celtics knocked them out of midway through the second quarter thanks to an excellent game from star Boston forward Jayson Tatum (41 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists).

The St. Louis native had help from Jaylen Brown (19 points), Al Horford (16 points, 6 boards), Derrick White (16 points) and Jrue Holiday (14 points, 5 assists, 12 assists) as all five starters scored in double figures. With the win, the Celtics improve to 42-12, and stand a full six games ahead of the next-closest team, now the Cleveland Cavaliers in second place at 35-17.

The Celtics next face the Nets for the second half of an away-and-home, back-to-back series with Brooklyn at TD Garden on Wed., Feb. 14. 2024.
