Celtics assistant coach Micah Shrewsberry reportedly leaving team

Not long after the Boston Celtics 2019 playoff run came to a conclusion a report of the team’s first departure emerged.

Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe reported after Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals Celtics assistant coach Micah Shrewsberry is leaving the organization for the college game. Shrewsberry returns to the Big Ten to be an assistant coach at Purdue, once again. Shrewsberry had been there before joining the Celtics for the 2013-14 season.

With the roster littered with soon to be free agents, Shrewsberry is likely to be the first of many moves the Celtics deal with over the course of the summer. Although Marcus Morris is interested in returning, Terry Rozier and Kyrie Irving are both up in the air. Then there’s the matter of Anthony Davis, assuming the Celtics have intentions of acquiring him, whether or not Irving sticks around.
