Celtics assessed as NBA’s fifth-most valuable team

The Boston Celtics continue to remain one of the NBA’s most valuable franchises, according to Mike Ozanian of Forbes. Writing that the “average NBA team value has risen 13% since February, to $2.48 billion, behind record sponsorship revenue and high expectations for the league’s next media rights deal,” Ozanian relates that the Celtics check in at fifth overall in the league.

Trailing (in order) the New York Knicks (worth $5.8 billion), the Golden State Warriors ($5.6 billion), the Los Angeles Lakers ($5.5 billion), and Chicago Bulls ($3.65 billion), Boston is reportedly worth $3.55 billion and is breathing down Chicago’s neck like Larry Bird was defending Michael Jordan in the 1986 playoffs.

The Celtics are just ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers ($3.3 billion), and saw the value of the team increase by 11% in the last year while producing an operating income of $46 million.
