Celtics announce Walker out until Jan. with knee stem cell injection procedure

The Boston Celtics announced via press release that All-Star point guard Kemba Walker will miss the start of the 2019-20 NBA season in a press release circulated Monday, Dec. 1.

According to the team, after consulting with multiple specialists in October, the UConn product was the recipient of a stem cell injection in his left knee in conjunction with a 12-week strengthening program to help prepare him for the coming season.

He is expected to return to on-court activities in early December, and “a further update regarding his game availability will be provided during the first week of January,” per the release.

The team also announced second-year wing Romeo Langford will also miss the start to camp as he continued with the four-to-five month recovery period following his wrist operation on September 22nd.

The team will also be without big man Tristan Thompson for the start of camp after a minor tweak to a hamstring.
