Celtics’ Al Horford on staying healthy on the road

The holidays are always a time of travel in our lives, and veteran Boston Celtics big man Al Horford is no stranger to spending time on planes and between places as an NBA player. And while he has the benefit of his job as a professional athlete to tackle staying fit while on the road, he shared a few tips on snacking healthy while traveling in a recent interview with Forbes’ Debbi Kickham.

The Dominican forward related that he will “always order fruit or another healthy snack when I stay at hotels” to avoid the temptation of less healthy fare commonly available to travelers, but also pays attention to how much water he is drinking.

“A big part of traveling for me is staying hydrated too, as the body gets depleted when you travel,” he explained.

“I focus on water, with some sea salt and lime,” added Horford. “It helps hydrate you in a clean way when you travel.”

“I also have been drinking cherry juice before bed as it helps soothe me after long trips and enables me to fall asleep more quickly.”
