Celtics’ Al Horford, Grant Williams enter health and safety protocols

Boston Celtics forwards Al Horford and Grant Williams have entered health and safety protocols and will miss Friday’s game against the Golden State Warriors, according to the team. The team is now without three players after Jabari Parker went into health and safety protocols Thursday evening.

Horford and Williams have been integral to the Celtics this season. In his return to Boston, Horford has been averaging more rebounds (7.8 per game) than he has in any season since 2013-14 (8.4). Williams has been lighting it up from three-point range, hitting a team-high 45.3% from beyond the arc. Williams is also averaging a career-high 7.5 points this season, mostly off the bench.

The Warriors Jordan Poole also entered health and safety protocols ahead of Friday’s matchup between the NBA’s top team and the Celtics.

There has been an increase in players entering health and safety protocols lately, and reports the NBA and NBPA are discussing increasing testing for all players on game and practice days, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
