Celtics accomplish feat for first time in over 50 years

The Boston Celtics continued their roll on Saturday with a 120-107 over the Los Angeles Lakers. Gordon Hayward has been on a hot streak throughout the West Coast road trip and continued his stretch of strong play with a 15-point night against the Lakers, going 6 for 8 from the floor.

The performance was a good sign for Hayward’s continued climb, but the night undoubtedly belonged to Kyrie Irving. Boston’s point guard finished with 30 points on 12 for 18 shooting, going 5 for 8 from long range.

Combined with a pair of 16-point nights from Marcus Smart and Marcus Morris, as well as solid performances from others, Boston was able to win it’s third straight, reaching a mark the team has not touched since 1966, per Elias Sports Bureau.

This is the first time the Celtics have won three straight games in California since 1966, knocking off the Lakers twice and the Warriors once on the last occasion.

Boston has a chance to make it four in a row with a win over the Clippers on Monday.
