Celtic 'won't' make Rafa Benitez move until Neil Lennon's future is resolved

Celtic will not approach Rafa Benitez until Neil Lennon's future is resolved, according to a report.

The Parkhead side have been linked with a move for the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss after leaving Chinese Super League club Dalian Pro on Saturday.

But the Daily Record claims there has been no contact with the Spaniard as the club are yet to make a decision on Lennon's position.

Hoops chief executive Peter Lawwell is still to complete his managerial review which is expected to go ahead in the next week, but as it stands, Lennon will prepare his side for Wednesday's clash with Hamilton as normal.

Lennon's job has come under threat as Celtic trail Premiership league leaders Rangers by 23 points.

Benitez's availability prompted the ex-Real Madrid boss to be linked with the Celtic role while Betfair suspended bets as he became odds-on to be the next manager.

However, the experienced coach isn't looking to get back into work straight away despite offers from Germany and Italy.
