Celtic WON'T give Rangers guard of honour when Premiership champions visit Parkhead as John Kennedy takes clear stance

Interim Celtic manager John Kennedy has revealed the Hoops WILL NOT be giving arch rivals Rangers a guard of honour this weekend.

After an incredible domestic season, Steven Gerrard 's side travel to Parkhead on Sunday with their hands already on the Premiership trophy.

And while the debate has raged on as to whether Celtic should give their Glasgow neighbours the mark of respect, temporary boss Kennedy confirmed his side won't be handing out the honour to the title-winners.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference he confirmed that his side would not be giving a guard of honour on Sunday.

Earlier this week former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell said the Hoops should honour the title-winners, stating: "I think Rangers haven't done it in the past and I think that shows a lack of class."

Former Parkhead boss Neil Lennon also said in 2019 that Celtic would have given Rangers a guard of honour after they won the league, had the shoe been on the other foot.

He said at the time: "It’s a break from tradition. I think we would have done it if the shoe had been on the other foot. But it’s not a major issue.

“It would have been a touch of class if they did it.

“I’m disappointed they are not. Celtic would have done it.”
