Celtic winger Daniel Arzani sent message from Australia legend Tim Cahill after injury return

Celtic winger Daniel Arzani has received a message of support from Australia legend Tim Cahill after he made his return from injury.

Arzani, on loan from Manchester City , was in action for the U23s side after being called up to their training camp in Doha.

The 20-year-old has been on the sidelines for the best part of 10 months after suffering a horror ACL injury on his debut against Dundee last season.

But he is almost back to full fitness as he played 30 minutes for his country, and former Everton striker Cahill was in the stands to watch the youngster. The pair were both a part of Australia's World Cup squad in 2018.

He said on Instagram: “Good to see you back my man Arzani”

Arzani said after the match: "Good to get another 30 minutes under my belt. Hopefully back to full fitness in the coming weeks.”

The training camp is a part of the Soceroos' preparations for the AFC U-23 Championship in January, which is the qualifying tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Any call-up would mean he will miss yet more games for the Parkhead side.

Arzani has featured for the Celtic reserves in recent weeks, but has yet to be integrated into the first team.

But he might find it difficult to force his way into Neil Lennon 's plans with wingers James Forrest, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Mikey Johnston, Lewis Morgan and Scott Sinclair at the manager's disposal.
