Celtic vs Rangers referee revealed as Willie Collum heads up team for New Year derbies

The SFA have announced the referees for a long weekend on mouthwatering Premiership derby matches.

Celtic host Rangers on January 2 in a hotly anticipated battle with this season's Champions League group stage jackpot on the line for the title winners.

And it'll be Willie Collum in charge for the powderkeg fixture, his first since a 1-1 draw at Parkhead in March.

Collum will be assisted by David McGeachie and Daniel McFarlane running the lines, while Nick Walsh is the fourth official.

Experienced referee Collum has been in charge of plenty of Old Firms and after a heightened discourse around referees and a number of high profile incidents the SFA have gone for a man who knows the occasion inside out.

But there are plenty of other big games that same weekend with Steven McLean taking charge of the Dundee Derby that same day at Dens Park.

One day later it's the Edinburgh sides who take centre stage and Don Robertson is the man in the middle for Hibernian vs Hearts.
