Celtic vs Rangers referee revealed as Willie Collum handed role for crunch clash

Willie Collum will be the man in the middle for next week's Old Firm clash at Celtic Park - if the game goes ahead.

Doubts have emerged over whether it will be played next week and Celtic and Rangers are both in a meeting with Humza Yousaf and Jason Leitch this afternoon.

Government officials are worried over potential mass gatherings among fans with police monitoring any planned events.

But if it does take place next Sunday, then Collum will be the referee of the derby for the first time since the Betfred Cup Final in 2019.

He took charge of that game and there was controversy over Christopher Jullien's winning goal when the Frenchman appeared to be offside from the free kick.

Collum also previously took charge of Celtic's 3-2 win at Ibrox in March 2018 when he sent off Jozo Simunovic for an elbow on Alfredo Morelos.

He hasn't been in charge of any of the Old Firm games this season but has refereed Celtic on five occasions and Rangers twice.

The five Celtic games saw them beat Hamilton, Dundee United and Aberdeen but drop points against the Dons and against Livingston.

He sent off Scott Brown in the 2-2 draw at the Tony Macaroni in January.

His two Rangers games this season saw Steven Gerrard’s men beat Hamilton and Hibs.
