Celtic vs Rangers referee revealed as Bobby Madden prepares to take charge

Bobby Madden will take charge of Sunday's pivotal derby clash between Celtic and Rangers at Parkhead.

The experienced whistler will be the man in the middle for the lunchtime kick off with Celtic looking to put a final nail in Rangers' Premiership hopes.

Madden will be assisted by David McGeachie and Alan Mulvanny with Kevin Clancy taking up fourth official duties.

It's the East Kilbride whistlers' first taste of Old Firm action this season. But he did twice take charge in the last campaign - with Celtic's 4-0 thrashing of Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi final last April in which Ross McCrorie was red carded - the last of those.

He was also in charge when the sides drew 0-0 at Parkhead earlier in the season.

Madden was taken out of the firing line after his first taste of derby action in a 1-1 draw at Parkhead two seasons ago.

He was slated by Celtic fans after denying Leigh Griffiths a last gasp penalty after the Hoops striker was brought down by Clint Hill. He was also criticised by Rangers supporters for not sending off Scott Brown for a challenge on Jason Holt.

Rangers star Steven Davis left shocked as he’s told about glory day at Celtic

Celtic currently sit 10 points clear of their arch rivals with eight games remaining and a victory for the Hoops would all but seal 8-in-a-row.

Steven Gerrard's side are looking to build on victory in the last meeting of the sides in December - their first league win over Celtic in almost seven years.
