Celtic vs Hamilton Accies: Watch our preview show ahead of the Premiership season

After four long months, football is back!

There was a time when it seemed like watching the beautiful game and cheering on our favourite team again was a million miles away.

As the Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc, sport - and society - ground to a halt.

We're not out of the woods yet, but we are starting to get back to some kind of normality and the wait for football's return is almost over.

While our national game makes a welcome return this weekend, it does so without the lifeblood of the sport - the fans.

The Scottish Premiership will be played behind closed doors until at least next month and, even then, it will be some time before stadiums are packed to capacity as they once were.

But Lanarkshire Live Sport will be here to bring you every kick this season as the region's senior sides make a welcome comeback.

We'll be following the fortunes of Hamilton Accies and Motherwell once again and while The Steelmen get underway on Monday night in Dingwall when they face Ross County, Accies are up first.

They will hope to spoil flag day in Glasgow when they take on a Celtic side embarking on a 10-in-a-row bid and you can check out our preview show in the video above as we bring you the build-up to a huge opening weekend for Accies.

Brian Rice's men are entering their seventh consecutive season in the top flight and they couldn't have asked for a tougher start to the campaign.

It's been almost six years since they last claimed all three points in the East End of Glasgow, but with the game played behind closed doors, can Accies make the most of the surreal surroundings?

We also take a closer look at Rice’s summer signings and assess if Accies can spring a shock on Neil Lennon's side after a series of high-profile exits from New Douglas Park over the close season.

It won't be football as we usually experience it, but it sure feels great to have it back!
