Celtic v Hibs Premiership clash given new fixture date after 'club request'

Celtic will face Hibernian on a Monday night in January after the SPFL announced they had responded to a 'club request' over a change to the fixture date.

The match was due to take place on Saturday, January 9 with a 3pm kick off at Celtic Park.

But that has now been put back to the Monday, January 11, and the start time changed to 7:45 pm.

The Leith side were beaten 3-0 on their last visit to Parkhead in September but were unlucky not to take all three points from the November clash at Easter Road when Diego Laxalt's late strike rescued a point for the visitors in a 2-2 draw.

No indication was given over which club requested the change of fixture date.

Celtic are already eliminated from the Europa League, but travel to the San Siro to meet AC Milan on Thursday before hosting St Johnstone on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile Hibs - who have not won at Celtic Park since 2010 - go to Motherwell this weekend in Scottish Premiership action.

The fixture rearrangement comes as pressure grows on Celtic boss Neil Lennon after his side lost their grip on Scottish football's silverware at the hands of a 2-0 defeat to Ross County.

The defeat provoked angry scenes of protest outside Celtic Park which have since been condemned as "disgraceful" by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
