Celtic v Hibs in fresh doubt as Easter Road side consult squad over 'reservations'

Hibernian are consulting with their first team squad over whether to fulfil Monday's Premiership clash at Celtic.

Several members of the Easter Road dressing room are reportedly uncomfortable with plans to face the Parkhead side after 13 players were forced into self-isolation on their return from Dubai due to Christopher Jullien's positive COVID-19 test.

Sky Sports report the Leith outfit are to hold talks with the playing squad following suggestions some players have reservations over taking part in the fixture.

Hibs asked for the Celtic players available for selection to be tested again, however the Glasgow side refused citing the request was not in line with current protocols.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is among those self-isolating and would not be on the bench should the game go ahead.

The fixture itself had already been pushed back by more than 48 hours at the Parkhead outfit's request so they could embark on the warm weather training programme as the country was subjected to tighter lockdown restrictions.

Hibs initially rejected that proposal, but SPFL protocol dictates that the home side is favoured in cases of fixture rearrangement.

Speaking in his Friday press conference, manager Jack Ross said he had "no health concerns whatsoever" over his side taking part in the game.

The Scottish government introduced new guidance on Sunday evening requiring all travellers from Dubai to self-isolate if they arrived after January 3.

That includes Celtic, who jetted back to Glasgow on a private chartered flight on Friday.

Around 5,500 new cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in the gulf state in the days leading up to the travel ban being imposed.
