Celtic v Hibs gets new date and kick off time as January trip to Parkhead rescheduled

Hibernian's January trip to Celtic has been rescheduled after a 'club request' the SPFL has announced.

The Easter Road side were due to face the Glasgow outfit on Saturday January 9 with the game kicking off at 3pm.

However, that fixture has now been switched to the Monday night as Jack Ross's men get set to take on the Premiership holders at 7:45pm on January 11.

The Leith side were beaten 3-0 on their last visit to Parkhead in September but were unlucky not to take all three points from the November clash at Easter Road when Diego Laxalt's late strike rescued a point for the visitors in a 2-2 draw.

No indication was given over which club requested the change of fixture date.

The fixture rearrangement comes as pressure grows on Celtic boss Neil Lennon after his side lost their grip on Scottish football's silverware at the hands of a 2-0 defeat to Ross County.

The defeat provoked angry scenes of protest outside Celtic Park which have since been condemned as "disgraceful" by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Hibs face Motherwell on Saturday, while Celtic are away to AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday evening before they host St Johnstone on Sunday.

The rearrangement means the Hibees will have a nine-day break between their first fixture of the new year, at home to Livingston on January 2, and the trip to Celtic Park.

Hibs have not won in Glasgow's East End since 2010, when Danny Galbraith's late winner sealed all three points for John Hughes' men.
