Celtic TV commentator in brutal on-air jibe at Rangers ace Cantwell

Todd Cantwell was yesterday called out on Celtic TV as he was the target of an on-air jibe.

The Rangers midfielder was referenced by commentator Gerry McCulloch after Wolves were awarded a penalty against Celtic in their friendly in Dublin.

Celtic had surged into the lead through a Kyogo Furuhashi finish in the first half, however, Wolves levelled late on from the spot.

Matt Doherty had burst into the box before going down as Joe Hart raced out to his feet.

A spot-kick was awarded despite Celtic commentators citing a lack of contact for the decision.

And McCulloch was quick to throw in a reference to rival ace Cantwell as he stated: "No contact. He's done a Cantwell."

And fans were quick to pick up on the jibe as they reacted on social media.

One user commented: "loving your take on the Wolves penalty. “He’s done a Cantwell’"

Another wrote: "he’s done a cantwell is outstanding patter"

It comes after Cantwell faced criticism over a penalty awarded to Rangers in the pre-season friendly against Olympiacos at Ibrox.

In a similar incident as Doherty against Celtic, Cantwell had looked to round the keeper before going to ground in the box and the penalty being awarded.

Celtic hero Chris Sutton appeared to suggest there was little contact in the Cantwell incident as he reacted: "Any pre-season contenders for the Simulation Game yet??"
