Celtic transfer update as Greg Taylor faces race against time and new link emerges

Celtic face a race against time to get the Greg Taylor deal over the line.

The Kilmarnock left-back is training with the Scotland national team at Edinburgh’s Oriam ahead of the Euro 2020 double-header against Russia and Belgium.

Taylor hooked up with the likes of Andy Robertson at the capital’s training centre but will be whisked away should the transfer be sealed.

Record Sport understands the move remains likely but it had stalled over Jack Hendry and Calvin Miller going the other way to the Ayrshire club.

Celtic were this morning linked with a move for Manchester City right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

Although Neil Lennon has signed two right-backs in Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer, any deal for Frimpong would likely see the 18-year-old signed for the development squad.

He has spent the past three seasons in the Man City academy having failed to make the breakthrough into Pep Guardiola’s first team.

But according to the Sun, Lennon is likely to sign him up before midnight.

Anthony Ralston, meanwhile, has exited Celtic today. The right-back has signed a season-long loan deal with St Johnstone.

There may be more incomings for the champions today although reports state Victor Wanyama won’t be one of them.

Record Sport revealed on Sunday night the Tottenham midfielder was an option to return to Celtic.

The Kenyan’s move to Club Brugge has broken down and it’s believed the Hoops were considering a loan move for Wanyama.
