Celtic transfer spending spree laid bare as finances show Ange Postecoglou has been backed more than Brendan Rodgers

Celtic had a busier transfer window than most this summer signing no fewer than 11 players for the first team.

Since arriving in Scotland from Japan manager Ange Postecoglou has been working hard to implement his distinct brand of football on the team.

That has been showcased in his signings as well, and also the outgoings at Parkhead which do not fit in his system.

There has often been much noise surrounding fans at Celtic Park venting their frustrations against the Celtic board over transfer dealings.

When comparing previous managers and seasons however, it showcases that new gaffer Postecoglou has been backed well in the transfer market.

When analysing the spending from previous seasons it shows that Dominic McKay and have faith in their new manager.

Celtic this summer spent £20million on transfers, bringing in a host of talent from throughout the world.

The most notable arrival was the summer acquisition of Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi.

Brendan Rodgers had Celtic playing a patient possession game (PA)

The 26-year-old striker has made a fast start to life in Scotland, bagging himself seven goals and one assist in just nine matches.

He cost the club £4.5million but looks to be already repaying a large chunk of his fee with his performances both domestically and in Europe.

The higher-ups do appear to have backed the Australian more than previous bosses as park of the massive rebuild.

Last season, under Neil Lennon, Celtic spent just under £15million in the transfer market, with the biggest outlay coming in flop Albian Ajeti.

The Hoops signed Ajeti for a reported £5million, however, his time in Glasgow thus far has not been a successful one.

Even when looking back to Brendan Rodgers ' first season in charge of the Hoops, the Parkhead side only spent £8.5million.

The most notable outlay of that transfer window, was fan favourite Scott Sinclair.

Rodgers went on to have a trophy laden spell in Glasgow's east end and punters will be hoping Postecoglou will repeat the same success.
