Celtic transfer roundup as Josip Juranovic move 'imminent' and frozen out star offered exit pathway

Celtic are edging towards the end of the January transfer window and despite three new recruits business does not look to be done yet.

The main talking points are the futures of defender Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis, both of whom look set to leave Glasgow this month. Croatian defender Juranovic is reportedly in Germany to complete a medical ahead of a move to Bundesliga side Union Berlin in a deal worth around £10m to the Hoops.

The initial fee for the 27-year-old is believed to be around £7.5m with add-ons, which could see Ange Postecoglou's men net a healthy profit on the £2.5m they spent on the defender in 2021. There was reported interest in the World Cup star's services after stellar Qatar showings with big spenders Chelsea and Barcelona in the hunt according to some outlets.

Juranovic was left out of the Hoops 5-0 win over Greenock Morton and looks set to complete a move in the coming days. Meanwhile striker Giakoumakis seems to be weighing up his future with ambitious Uwara Red Diamonds in the hunt and a proposed move to the MLS on the table. Postecoglou admitted he left the 28-year-old out of his side on Saturday with things 'going on in the background'.

In other news frozen out loanee Oliver Abildgaard could be set to find his Parkhead misery way out as the Dane has failed to make the desired impact in Glasgow. The 26-year-old has made a handful of appearances but has found game time practically impossible with Aaron Mooy, Reo Hatate and Matt O'Riley all on form and firing.

According to Tipsbladet, Aalborg are keen on a move for Abildgaard and it would be a 'dream' for them to land the star should his Parkhead stay be cut short.
