Celtic transfer round-up as Yan Couto becomes latest Manchester City link

Yan Couto has been named as the latest name to potentially solve Celtic's dearth of right-backs.

The Brazilian youth internationalist, 19, is currently in Manchester City's academy setup and was loaned out to City Football Group affiliate Girona last season, regularly featuring in the Spanish second tier.

Now Sky Sports claim he's one of a growing list of potential loan defenders to bolster the Hoops backline.

Carl Starfelt at centre-back is the marquee rearguard capture of this summer as he replaces Kris Ajer but there remain some holes as Anthony Ralston appears the only first-team option on the right side.

Brandon Soppy and Sacha Boey, both of Rennes, have been linked in previous weeks but the former link seems to have gone cold for now while Boey is close to a Galatasaray move.

It's also not the first time a Manchester City star has interested manager Ange Postecoglou this window - himself joining from another City affiliate in Yokohama F. Marinos this summer - as Ko Itakura remains another temporary option at centre-back.

Meanwhile, Marian Shved has finalised his permanent move away from Parkhead, joining KV Mechelen on a three-year deal.

The Ukrainian winger made just three first team appearances at the Hoops in two-and-a-half years in Glasgow, being loaned out to the Belgian side and former club Karpaty Lviv back home in that time.

Earlier this month he stated his desire to remain at the Pro League outfit.

"I want to stay in Mechelen," Shved said. "I was never given a chance at Celtic. I got the opportunity here that I didn't get at Celtic.

"I am really pleased with how last season went because I had a lot of game time and that helped me build my confidence."
