Celtic transfer news round up as Valentin Rosier competition emerges and long-term target linked

With Ange Postecoglou finally getting down to work at Lennoxtown the work on the Celtic rebuild can begin in earnest.

The Greek-Australian boss will take charge of his first training session after completing his mandatory quarantine having jetted in from Japan.

It's been more than 100 days since Neil Lennon's departure but with his replacement getting down to business thoughts will turn to the transfer market.

After ending the season without a trophy and seeing the 10 In A Row dream turn to dust, Celtic are in need of a major rebuild this summer.

The likes of Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer and Ryan Christie look set to depart but as always fans will be most interested in who will be coming in the Parkhead door.

Two long-term targets have been linked, with reports that Celtic have renewed their attempts to sign Mario Vuskovic.

The 19-year-old centre-back has been in the crosshairs for some time but the Croatian Under-21 international looked set for Torino.

However, the Serie A side pulled out of negotiations at the end of May after being unable to agree a fee with Hajduk Split.

Reports from Italy at the time suggested Vuskovic's club were asking for £4-5million and it's likely Celtic would have to shell out around that much to get their man.

Another long-term target with an Italian connection is Aaron Hickey, who is once again being touted for a Parkhead switch.

The Bologna left-back grew up a Celtic fan and had a spell in their youth set-up in between stints with Hearts.

A £3m bid is said to to be in the offing though Bologna will not want to lose the youngster who they signed only last summer.

And it appears that defence is a big priority this summer as Sporting right-back Valentin Rosier is also linked.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Besiktas and can also play on the left hand side but securing his signature won't be easy.

French giants Marseille are said to be interested and are a hard proposition to turn down for any French player.

And it's reported in Turkey that Lazio want the full-back as they look to build a team for Maurizio Sarri.
