Celtic transfer news round up as Charlie Wyke offers signing encouragement with Sunderland future update

In-demand Charlie Wyke has confirmed he will not return to Sunderland next season amid interest from Celtic.

The 28-year-old forward will not sign a new deal with The Black Cats after their failed bid to escape League One this term.

With several Championship clubs reportedly chasing his signature, claims down south state that Ange Postecoglou is leading the chase for the free agent.

After months of speculation, he has taken to Instagram to confirm his departure from the Stadium of Light.

He wrote: "Thank you to the Sunderland fans who supported me from day one and good luck for the future."

Meanwhile reports in Belgium claim that Marian Shved 's move to Mechelen permanently is far from being completed.

The winger joined the Parkhead club in January 2019 but has barely featured since the £2million signing in the latter days of the Brendan Rodgers tenure.

He was shipped out on loan to Mechelen having made just three appearances off the bench under Neil Lennon.

Despite a tough start to life in Belgium, the 23-year-old found his form and helped his side in a push for the Europa League playoff place.

The club appear keen to make the move permanent, but GVA report that "there is no agreement in sight" over the deal.

Elsewhere on the recruitment front, Aaron Mooy has been tipped to become a smash hit in Glasgow's east end if he reunites with former Australia boss Postecoglou.

Pundit Danny Mills believes he could take the Scottish Premiership by storm if he leaves Chines Super League side Shanghai Port FC.

He told Football Insider: Players these days are looking after themselves. 30 is the new 28 with fitness regimes and the way they look after themselves. It’s vitally important.

“There’s plenty of people that have shown they are fit enough and can do a good job at that age.

“There’s no reason why at 30-years-old you can’t thrive in the Scottish Premiership.”
