Celtic transfer news latest as Sacha Boey in 'advanced' talks to join from Rennes

Rennes right-back Sacha Boey has reportedly entered "advanced" transfer talks with Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou has Boey's Roazhon Park team-mate Brandon Soppy also on his radar as he kicks his Parkhead rebuild into overdrive.

Rubin Kazan centre-back Carl Starfelt, too, looks set for a medical in Glasgow while a deal for Israeli winger Liel Abada could be completed in the next 24 hours.

The new Celtic manager has seemingly prioritised beefing up his backline, with the club light on defensive options just seven days out from a Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland.

Both The Herald and Le Parisien state talks with 20-year-old Boey have progressed and an opening bid has been submitted.

The right-back spent last season on-loan at Dijon in Ligue 2.

He has just one year remaining on his contract and Celtic could add him to their ranks on a cut-price deal.

Meanwhile, Watford teenager Bosun Lawal is closing in on a move to Parkhead.

The 18-year-old was pictured visiting Celtic Park on Tuesday and is expected to make the switch to Glasgow.

The teenager is a Republic of Ireland youth international is could play a role in the club's B squad in the Lowland League next season.
