Celtic transfer news latest as Alfa Semedo 'seals' move and Benjamin Siegrist spotted

Alfa Semedo is reportedly on his way to Celtic as the Scottish champions also close in on Benjamin Siegrist.

The Vitoria Guimaraes midfielder has agreed an initial loan switch to Parkhead that includes an obligation to buy for €2.5million.

That could rise to €3.5million, according to reports in Portugal. A move for the Guinea-Bissau international suggests Hoops have dropped out of the chase for Vinicius Souza. The Brazilian midfielder had been heavily linked with the Scottish champions, but a number of clubs were also tracking the Lommel SK star.

Dutch giants Ajax were one interested party, and the 23-year-old was set to take his time over any decision.

Ange Postecoglou appears to have moved on to other targets as a result, with Semedo next on the list as he attempts to bolster the engine room ahead of a crack at the Champions League group stage.

Left back is another priority position and a deal is thought to be close for Alexandro Bernabei.

Reports in Argentina over the weekend suggested the 21-year-old could have been on his way to Glasgow, but Bernabei played for Lanus in their Primera Division win over Colon.

He’ll maybe wish he had hooped on a plane however, after being shown a straight red card for landing a headbutt. Knowledge of the ‘Glasgow kiss’ seems appropriate though.

His club have set an asking price of £3.75million, which shouldn't deter Celtic from completing a deal.

Sigerist has apparently arrived in Glasgow. The former Dundee United keeper has been spotted at a city hotel and is expected to sign on as back up to Joe Hart after leaving Dundee United.

The wait for Jota to be confirmed on permanent deal, but it seems to be inching closer by the day,

An announcement is expected soon on the winger’s £6.5million move from Benfica which will finally see him join Cameron Carter-Vickers in penning a long-term deal.

Hoops fans will also be breathing a sigh of relief after claims that Josip Juranovic was “expected” to leave the club this summer, with club circling, have been rubbished.

Croatian media insist that the full back is happy as a Celt and has no plans to go anywhere.
