Celtic transfer news as 'very dangerous' striker told Parkhead switch is a no brainer

Out of contract striker Charlie Wyke is being urged to sign for Celtic amid reported talks with the Parkhead club.

The 28-year-old forward left Sunderland after their failed bid to escape League One this term and has been linked with several Championship clubs.

However, reports state that Celtic Park now looks like his likeliest destination as "senior officials from the Glasgow club spoke with Wyke and his representatives last week".

Former Aberdeen striker Noel Whelan has urged the attacker to make the move north of the border this summer.

The pundit believes he could be a suitable replacement for talisman Odsonne Edouard if he leaves Glasgow's east end this summer.

He told Football Insider: "He gives you that huge presence up front.

“He had a great spell at Bradford that got him the move to Sunderland in the first place.

“I’ve seen him many times, he’s a handful and can bring other players into play.

“He’s very dangerous from wide areas and gives Celtic a different option. He could be a short-term replacement for Edouard, who may be leaving as well."

Elsewhere, Joseph Okumu now looks unlikely to arrive in the Scottish Premiership this summer.

The centre-back had been linked with a move to both Celtic and Rangers this summer but multiple reports in Belgium state he will snub other offers to sign with Gent.

Voetbalnieuws report the Kenyan will move for €2million on a four-year deal.
