Celtic transfer news as reason why Marian Shved's Mechelen extension talks have stalled

Mechelen boss Wouter Vrancken has revealed talks to extend Marian Shved's loan deal have stalled due to the ongoing changes at Celtic.

The Belgian side are hoping to keep the winger for the remainder of the season and previously opened dialogue with the Parkhead club.

Shved has two years left on his deal at the Hoops and has impressed with Mechelen despite a slow start to life in Belgium.

But with a new manager still to be appointed at Celtic following Neil Lennon's exit, Vrancken says an extension to his current stay is up in the air.

He told the Daily Record: "We had previously started talks with Celtic about the possibility of extending Marian's loan here.

"But there is a lot of change going on just now at Celtic.

"There will be a new manager and a new technical director. The people we previously talked to are now gone, so we will have to wait and see.

"Marian has clearly indicated that he would like to stay here. I also think that's best for him. He needs stability in his career."
