Celtic transfer news as Mario Vuskovic 'rested' for Hajduk Split's latest friendly

Celtic supporters could've been forgiven for thinking there had been a breakthrough in their club's chase for Mario Vuskovic after the defender was left out of Hajduk Split's friendly last night.

The centre-back has been repeatedly linked with a move to Parkhead over the last two weeks, as new Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou continues his summer rebuild.

Vuskovic has been touted as being worth around £5million, and he recently found the net in Split's pre-season match against Polish outfit Śląsk Wrocław, but was ominously absent for last night's clash with NK Odranci.

However, according to Croatian news outlet Sportske his current manager has been playing down the omission, insisting Vuskovic was merely rested and is not about to arrive at Glasgow Airport any second.

It remains to be seen whether the Celtic hierarchy can strike a deal to prise the Croatia U21 star away from Hajduk's clutches in time for the Champions League qualifiers against Danish cracks FC Midtjylland on July 20.
