Celtic transfer news as Hoops set for battle with Swansea for Exeter City prospect

Celtic are set to battle it out with Welsh side Swansea City for Exeter starlet Joel Randall, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has had a breakthrough campaign with the Grecians, scoring six times in 14 League Two games this campaign and is thought to be interesting a host of Championship sides in England.

The forward came through the same academy setup as Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins and Chelsea's Ethan Ampadu and is reportedly being watched by the Swans - currently occupying one of the automatic promotion spots in England's second tier.

But The Hoops are also thought to be running the rule over the Exeter man, with The Athletic reporting the winger is on Nick Hammond and Neil Lennon's radar in January.

Reports suggest the League Two side value Randall at around £1.5 million - £500,000 less than they sold Watkins to Brentford for in 2017.

Randall had only played seven professional games before the start of this campaign, spending time out on loan at the likes of seventh tier Taunton Town and Tiverton Town.

But Exeter manager Matt Taylor has been delighted with his progress this term, telling The Athletic: "He’s had talent and potential in him since a young age.

"His running stats are phenomenal but he’s added an extra dimension to his game in terms of the end product.

"He’s been a constant threat down that left side, worked tirelessly for the team and contributed at all times this season. He’s been a standout player.”
