Celtic transfer news as Hannes Wolf has two choices and Lee Buchanan gets set to cross the divide

Celtic have once again been credited with an interest in Austrian playmaker Hannes Wolf as Ange Postecoglou continues to strengthen in January.

The 22-year-old has struggled for football at Borussia Monchengladbach this season and has frequently been touted for a move to Celtic in the past.

Recent reports from Germany suggested Gladbach are keen to offload him which got tongues wagging at Parkhead.

That has now been reinforced by Kicker who say that moving Wolf on is one of Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl's top priorities.

And they say that the firm stance taken by the Bundesliga side has raised Celtic's tails and they are now in a two-way battle with Rapid Vienna for his signature.

Meanwhile Lee Buchanan is another player who has been linked with Celtic in the past, but controversially it's now Nottingham Forest at the head of the pack.

Derby defender Buchanan is a highly-rated young defender and was touted for a move to Parkhead in the summer.

However Derby's bitter rivals Forest are said by The Athletic to be keen to take advantage of their financial struggles and will return with another bid after their initial approach was rejected.

Over in France, Zinedine Ferhat has been linked with both Celtic and Rangers since the summer with the Hoops' interest emerging in the last few days.

But it's now reported that St Etienne are hopeful of landing him on a six-month loan deal - if he joins Montpellier.

28-year-old Ferhat is highly-rated in Ligue 1 and looks all-but certain to leave Ligue 2 strugglers Nimes this month - or when his contract expires in the summer at the latest.

Montpellier want him and it's said St Etienne are hopeful of using that deal to land him on a temporary basis.
