Celtic transfer news as fringe star in shock link with Tottenham

Ismaila Soro has been linked with a shock move to Tottenham.

The Daily Mail claim the Premier League side are 'monitoring' the Celtic midfielder as they operate on a reduced budget this summer.

Soro has been on the fringes for the majority of the season since making his £2.7m switch from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda almost 18 months ago.

The Ivorian had to bide his time under former Parkhead boss Neil Lennon but did eventually get his chance in the side around the turn of the year.

He made an instant impact with his excellent work-rate and tenacity, but has been surplus to requirements under caretaker manager John Kennedy as Scott Brown returned to the fold.

But the report states his lack of playing time has not discouraged Spurs who are looking for midfield reinforcements.

It's said he's one of a number of targets they are looking for as they work under a "restricted budget."

Fans want Soro to be a part of Celtic's summer rebuild after he showed flashes during that short spell earlier in the season.

They hope he will get more first-team opportunities under a new manager and with Brown leaving for Aberdeen this summer.
