Celtic transfer latest as Paddy McNair interest cools but Jack Stacey chase heats up

Celtic's interest in Paddy McNair has eased as Neil Lennon turns his attention to other full-back targets.

The Hoops round off their pre-season camp on Tuesday against Swiss outfit St Gallen.

New boys Christopher Jullien and Luca Connell could feature but Lennon is continuing the search for new faces.

Record Sport understands interest in Middlesbrough’s McNair has cooled.

The £5million-rated utility man is on the radar but Celtic are chasing other targets such as Luton Town’s Jack Stacey - who is also wanted by Stoke - and former Hoops star Adam Matthews.

Right-back is a priority but left-sided defenders such as Rapid Vienna’s Boli Mbombo and Nice’s Romain Perraud, below, are options with Kieran Tierney’s future a doubt.

Celtic’s resolve has yet to be tested following Arsenal’s failed £15m bid but the Gunners are keen to get back to the table.

Napoli will not give up the fight and could be willing to meet the £25m valuation.

Tierney is back in Glasgow to continue rebuilding his fitness following surgery and won’t be fit for the first qualifying round.

Tom Rogic is also out as he recovers from ankle and knee problems, while Youssouf Mulumbu has been released as he looks for a new club.
