Celtic transfer latest as Birger Meling dodges Hoops questions and Greg Taylor scouted again

Neil Lennon is hoping to have another new signing confirmed ahead of a pivotal Europa League play-off against AIK Stockholm.

Celtic, who sealed the signing of former Southampton forward Jonathan Afolabi at the weekend, are scouring Europe for new faces.

The 19-year-old Republic of Ireland international agreed a two-year deal, but Lennon wants players to strengthen his first-team immediately with the full-backs areas a key position of focus.

Olympiakos right-back Omar Elabdellaoui is under consideration, but his club are involved in a Champions League play-off tie against Krasnodar this week.

Left-back Birger Meling is in the same position at Rosenborg. The 24-year-old Norway international dodged media attempting to ask him questions about his future following his side’s weekend draw with Odd.

However, sources close to the player last night claimed there have been no discussions at this stage.

Rosenborg also want Meling to stay for their two-legged shoot-out against Dinamo Zagreb as they attempt to make the Champions League group stages.

Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor is another under consideration.

Rugby Park manager Angelo Alessio insists the Ayrhsire outfit will not entertain any offers, but Record Sport understands he was scouted again by the champions in his team’s weekend clash with Hamilton.

Meanwhile, French media have claimed that Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham was offered to Bordeaux during the summer, but there was no move made.
