Celtic transfer claim as Steve Evans sends warning to clubs eyeing in-demand Joe Walsh

Steve Evans claims Celtic are among a host of clubs chasing highly-rated Gillingham keeper Joe Walsh.

And Evans is adamant the Hoops have had the rising star watched this season but they aren't the only side keeping close tabs on The Gills' academy graduate.

The likes of Everton and a pair of German clubs are also keeping monitoring a player who is being tipped for stardom after his debut campaign to remember.

But Scottish boss Evans insists his side are in no rush to lose their starlet anytime soon.

He told Kent Online :  “Some of these big clubs will be looking and thinking, because of the homegrown rule as well, they need homegrown players. He is a big asset to us.

“We know the people that are coming, it’s not made up.

“Celtic have been here, Everton have been here, overseas clubs, a couple of German clubs saying they are looking at our young goalkeeper.

"But there is a difference between looking and being prepared to come back and buy someone.”

Celtic have plenty of goalkeeping options at their disposal. Fraser Forster has been excellent during his loan return from Southampton and they also have Craig Gordon, Scott Bain and Connor Hazard on their books.
