Celtic transfer bulletin as Ko Itakura speaks out on next move and Cameron Carter-Vickers claim surfaces across the pond

Ko Itakura has revealed he's got no idea where his future lies this summer as the Celtic transfer target plots his next career step.

Parkhead boss Ange Postecoglou has already dipped into the J-League market by moving for forward Kyogo Furuhashi and the Manchester City man is another name of interest for the former Yokohama F. Marinos manager.

The defender has come to the end of his loan spell at FC Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie and is currently strutting his stuff at the country's home Olympics, helping Japan defeat South Africa in their Tokyo 2020 opener.

That's an immense source of pride for the 24-year-old but Itakura has admitted he's unsure where his future lies beyond this summer.

He's due back at City after the Games following two years in the Netherlands but isn't certain what Pep Guardiola and company have planned for him.

Speaking to his loan club's official magazine Word Groter, Itakura said: "It (the Olympics) is something you only experience once in a lifetime, and in Tokyo as well. Everyone is very excited.

"Groningen is the place where I was able to put myself on the map, where I learned to communicate in a foreign language.

"Everything here I did for the first time, and at the next club it will no longer be the first time. I have grown as a person and as a footballer.

"My dream is that one day I will play for a world famous club so that everyone knows who Ko Itakura is.

"But I think that after my career I will always want to come back to FC Groningen. That says it all."

Meanwhile, an American journalist insists Celtic are still interested in defender Cameron Carter-Vickers despite this week's capture of Carl Starfelt.

The Tottenham youth graduate and USA internationalist has returned from a sixth successive loan spell and could leave north London for good this summer.

SBI Soccer's Larry Henry Jr. says the Hoops are competing with Newcastle for a permanent transfer.

Starfelt's arrival on Wednesday softened the blow of losing Norwegian Kris Ajer to Brentford on the same day but Postecoglou could move to further strengthen the centre of defence, while a new right-back is also a priority.
