Celtic to face Ferencvaros or Djurgardens in Champions League if they beat KR Reykjavik

Celtic will face Ferencvaros of Hungary or Djurgardens of Sweden in the Champions League second qualifying round if they beat KR Reykjavik.

Neil Lennon's side face Reykjavik at Celtic Park on August 18 or 19 in a one-legged first qualifying round fixture.

The draw for the second qualifying round was conducted today in Nyon, where it was confirmed that the winners of Celtic v KR Reykjavik would face Ferencvaros or Djurgardens.

The second qualifying round will also be played over just one leg, with matches taking place on August 25 and 26, with Celtic again playing at home if they make it through the first round.

Extra time and penalties will be played if necessary.

Celtic have drawn their first round opponents once before in the tournament.

In July 2014, Ronny Deila's side won 1-0 in Iceland thanks to a late goal from Callum McGregor. They found things considerably easier at Celtic Park in the second leg, where doubles from Virgil van Dijk and Teemu Pukki gave them a 4-0 win.

McGregor was involved again yesterday as Celtic drew 1-1 with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. The disappointed midfielder said: "We know where we went wrong, the final pass and the wee bit of quality was missing and we never defended properly but we need to stay positive.

“There’s a lot of football to be played. It was frustrating, of course. It’s the second game in and we’ve dropped points and given ourselves some work to do.

“Performance-wise, it wasn’t good enough from us but we get a point, we need to take it and move on."
