Celtic tipped to move for Hibs star as ex-Hoops ace states Ange Postecoglou 'might still go for him'

Kevin Nisbet could be a player that Celtic go in for this transfer window, according to former Hoops star Davie Provan.

The striker from Cambuslang joined Hibs in 2020 and his first season at Easter Road shot him into the Scotland national team.

Rumours of a move away have never been too far in the distant though after Nisbet watched a transfer to Birmingham City collapse last January.

Celtic have constantly been linked with the Cambuslang forward and Provan believes that the price of some players already at Parkhead proves Hibs' forward is a worthwhile investment.

The striker has netted seven times this term. Provan told Go Radio: “I’m surprised that Celtic haven’t gone for Kevin Nisbet. I really am. Because I don’t think you would have to break the bank.

“Talking about somewhere between six and 10 million to get Cameron Carter-Vickers. Six-and-a-half to get Jota. I think you’d get Kevin Nisbet for less than half of that.

“And he’s a proven goalscorer in this environment and I think Celtic might still go for him but at the moment I think they’re missing a trick.

“I think he would do them a great turn. If you’re a striker, you want to be in that Celtic side given the width not not just from the natural wide players but from the full backs as well.

“The service into the box is terrific and it must be terrific being a Celtic striker right now.”
