Celtic tinkering leaves Kris Boyd 'baffled' as Rangers hero demands Scott Brown respect

Kris Boyd was left "baffled" by Scott Brown's omission from Celtic 's side to face Aberdeen.

And the former Rangers star has questioned whether the captain is being afforded the respect he deserves.

Neil Lennon 's side were held 3-3 at Pittodrie with Brown emerging only as a second-half substitute.

Boyd claims are being "let down badly" by a host of players but is adamant the 35-year-old midfielder is not among them.

"I'm still baffled why Scott Brown is left out of the team here today," Boyd told Sky Sports.

"Rotation, albeit it's a hard place to come and get a result. I know that.

"He was left out against St Johnstone. He comes back and plays against Rangers and Milan then finds himself back on the bench again today.

"I'm not buying that it's rotation and I just hope that Scott Brown has the respect he deserves because for me, at this moment in time, there are a lot of other people letting Celtic down and it's not Scott Brown.

"For me there is a lot of other ones having a good hard look at themselves."

Celtic twice came from behind to lead in an enthralling Sunday afternoon tussle in the north east.

Goals from Callum McGregor, Leigh Griffiths and a Ryan Christie penalty put Lennon's side on course for victory despite strikes from Lewis Ferguson and Ryan Hedges.

But the Dons were awarded a second late spot-kick and Ferguson fired home to earn Aberdeen a point.

Afterwards, Parkhead boss Lennon admitted his frustration with referee Willie Collum.

He told BBC Sportsound: "I'll need to see them again but I think the referee had a very poor game today.

"This is the first time really I've been semi-critical of a referee, I thought he was poor.

"In decision making, in being influenced by his assistants, some of the decisions were baffling out there today.

"That's not an excuse for us dropping points but it didn't add to what was an incredible game of football.

"I thought he was poor for a referee of his level."
