Celtic, the Adidas kit hint and the classic Hoops look that's all the rage

It's a summer unlike any other for supporters as the beautiful game gets set to exit cold storage after lockdown.

The COVID-19 pandemic has flipped the football calendar upside down but recent developments have pointed towards a brighter future.

Yes, fans should have be preparing for EURO 2020 right now but the return of the biggest leagues and the upcoming transfer window have offered a comforting reminder that football is on its way back.

And one thing that gets supporters, of all teams, pumped up is the launch of a new strip ahead of the brand new campaign.

A fresh kit offers hope and the excitement is only ramped up when a team changes suppliers.

That's where Celtic fans are right now as they count down the days until Adidas unveil three new kits ahead of the 20/21 season after their deal with New Balance expired at the end of the last campaign.

But what can Hoops supporters expect from their record-breaking five-year deal with the German sporting heavyweights?

Kit leaks have become commonplace over the past 15 years with social media platforms awash with potential new looks.

But not all the potential new designs have been a winner. Some Arsenal fans have issued their concerns with a rumoured Adidas away kit that "resembles a crime scene".

The industry leaders, alongside Nike, appear keen to try something different this season with the Gunners' home kit and a potential Juventus top having added details than the traditional look for both clubs.

Adidas officially launched Manchester United training kits in their 'Legend Earth' series which features differing three stripe colours on each sleeve. It's classic and should prove popular is the design is recreated for the Hoops.

Celtic supporters voiced concerns over New Balance's away kits towards the end of their agreement with the two fuchsia-inspired away looks in recent seasons earning less than positive reviews.

Adidas will be expected to deliver with several concepts only adding to the big build-up ahead of launch day.

The current kits will be have been agreed upon already but perhaps the manufacturer will welcome further information that has presented itself.

Celtic have been asking their fans to vote on the club's greatest ever strip in recent weeks and the club's home top between 1965-72 looks set to pip the centenary classic.

It started with 32 to choose from but almost all of the kits that made it to the last eight were simple in their design and very few had more than two colours on display.

That doesn't mean an Adidas kit that's outside the box wouldn't work but Celtic have supporters have longed for an away strip that's iconic as the 1986 title winning side.

Perhaps, a classic home and away look would earn kudos and the chance to experiment with a third strip, which appears likely judging by several leaks, could be the way things will play out.

Celtic fans are obviously delighted with the Adidas link-up, however, the recent fan poll makes it abundantly clear that, sometimes, less is more.
