Celtic team vs Rangers predicted as James Forrest return poses John Kennedy a key question

It's the final meeting of the season for these two and it doesn't quite right for there to be essentially nothing tangible at stake.

Rangers wrapped up the Premiership title long ago and Celtic are now very much in a period of transition.

The Parkhead club have yet to replace Neil Lennon and it will again fall to interim manager John Kennedy to pick a side for Sunday's derby.

Celtic head for Ibrox having not beaten their old rivals all season and for some this will be the last time they take part in this fixture.

Scott Brown is one of them as the Parkhead icon prepares to head north for Aberdeen next season.

He looks certain to enjoy a derby swan song but there are other decisions which will occupy Kennedy's mind.

With Vasilis Barkas now miles out of the picture, Scott Bain looks set to continue in goal.

Jonjoe Kenny endured a tough outing at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup just under a fortnight ago but Celtic have very few options at right-back.

Anthony Ralston has been in and around the squad but it would be a major surprise if he was given the nod.

Kristoffer Ajer and Stephen Welsh will likely continue at centre-back but don't be surprised to see Greg Taylor replace Diego Laxalt on the left.

The on-loan AC Milan had a torrid afternoon up against Joe Aribo and Nathan Patterson and was hooked in favour of the Scot at half-time.

Brown and Callum McGregor are shoo-ins for midfield but the big question here is whether Kennedy sticks with the diamond.

It's a shape which proved tricky for Rangers to deal with prior to the Scottish Cup meeting but they effectively nullified it to progress to the last eight.

With James Forrest fit, Kennedy could revert to 4-2-3-1 with the returning winger on the right and Mohamed Elyounoussi off the left.

David Turnbull would be favourite to start at 10 but there could be a slight question mark over Odsonne Edouard's involvement.

The Frenchman was dire at Ibrox but does Kennedy offer him the chance to put that right or give Leigh Griffiths a chance?

FULL TEAM: Bain; Kenny, Ajer, Welsh, Taylor; Brown, McGregor; Forrest, Turnbull, Elyounoussi; Edouard.

Subs: Hazard, Laxalt, Soro, Griffiths, Murray, Ralston, Rogic, Dembele, Montgomery
