Celtic team news v Charlton revealed as Callum McGregor returns to the side and is made captain

Ange Postecoglou has named a strong side for his second friendly as Celtic manager.

The Greek Aussie has also brought back some big guns for the clash with Charlton in Newport – including internationals such as Callum McGregor.

The Scotland star – who scored his country’s only goal at Euro 2020 – has been named captain.

With the Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland just 10 days away, the preparations have been stepped up and fewer youngsters are in today’s team than that started in the win over Sheffield Wednesday at the start of the week.

As well as McGregor, Greg Taylor, David Turnbull and Nir Bitton also start with Odsonne Edouard in the second half team but Kristoffer Ajer isn't involved at all

Vasilis Barkas remains in goal while Ismaila Soro also keeps his place as Postecoglou looks to make it two victories out of two in Wales.

There is no starting place for new signing Osaze Urhoghide - who will also play the second half - but Karamoko Dembele has been given the nod on the right hand side.

First half team: Barkas; Ralston, Welsh, Bitton, Taylor; McGregor Soro, Turnbull, Dembele,Montgomery, Ajeti

Second half team: Bain, Urhoghide, Murray, Hjelde, Murray, Montgomery, Ntcham, Shaw, Christie, Johnston, Henderson, Edouard
