Celtic target Kevin Nisbet absent from Hibernian squad to face Dundee due to illness

Kevin Nisbet is not part of the Hibernian squad for this afternoon's clash against Dundee.

The Cambuslang man has been subject to interest from Celtic ahead of a possible transfer this summer.

Hibs have reported that Nisbet is missing through illness despite early suggestions that he was missing due to Celtic's interest.

Manager Jack Ross has previously omitted players including Nisbet, Ryan Porteous and Josh Doig when they've been subject to transfer interest.

Nisbet's absence will put his Scotland place in jeopardy with Steve Clarke set to announce his squad early next week.

Broadcaster Peter Martin suggested, yesterday, that Ange Postecoglou was lining up a deal involving Leigh Griffiths plus cash for the 24-year-old.

Celtic boss Postecoglou refused to rule out a move for Nisbet before yesterday's 6-0 win over St Mirren.

He said: ""I ain't quashing, or denying or confirming, y'know.

"I was really happy to talk about Josip today because I'd been sitting on the fence with one, I don't like sitting on the fence.

"I prefer to talk about the ones we have done, there is still some work we're doing off the field, hopefully we will be able to make some announcements in the next few days."
