Celtic 'target' Jose Cifuentes wins goal of the tournament at U20 World Cup for this stunner

Ecuador wonderkid Jose Cifuentes is reportedly interesting Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

And it's no wonder if this strike that has just been voted as FIFA Under20 World Cup Goal of the Tournament is anything to go by.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who currently stars for America de Quito in his homeland, smashed home the opening goal in the South Americans' shock 2-1 win over USA in the quarter finals.

Former Celtic loan star Timo Weah equalised before Ecuador won the match through Jhon Izquierdo.

But it was Cifuentes' first half howitzer which blew the Americans away.

Picking the ball up wide on the left he drifted inside before thumping a 30-yard rocket past David Ochoa.

And on Monday, FIFA announced the strike was voted as the best in the entire competition.

Celtic are reportedly battling Manchester City for Cifuentes with Pep Guardiola keen to sign the player before sending him on loan to Girona.

But the Premier League champions would face a wait for a work permit to allow a deal to go through.

Celtic could land him immediately given the different permit laws that apply to Scotland. And that could hand the Hoops an advantage.
