Celtic target Elijah Just agent speaks after 'hope he's busy' admission

(Image: PA)

Elijah Just confessed this week that he hopes his agent is "busy" working behind the scenes on his future.

Now his representative has spoken about getting down to business where the Motherwell attacking midfielder is concerned.

Just, 26, has been on Celtic's transfer wishlist since last season with the playmaker performing well in his maiden Scottish Premiership campaign. He was nominated for Player of the Year with seven goals and eight assists from 43 outings and that kept him on the Hoops' radar.

The attacker was then called into the New Zealand squad for the World Cup and his performances only thrust him into the spotlight further as he found the net three times in the same number of games with a brace vs Iran and then a slick finish vs Belgium.

Celtic still admire Just but now face stiff competition for his signature from clubs around Europe and in the EFL Championship.

And his agent, Gustaf Grauers of Taldea Advisory Group, has now spoken about the player and acknowledged that he has, indeed, been fielding calls. Albeit the first person he will provide details to is Just himself.

He said: “There's been a lot of work behind the scenes to get to this point, so we'll sit down and have a chat once he's home before talking to anyone else."

Just is believed to be of interest to clubs in Ligue 1 while Southampton have sent scouts to watch him in person.

He had told how he wanted his reps to be working hard. He said: "In terms of transfer in the window, I guess that's my agent's job. I hope he is busy at the moment. I will speak to him and in football you never know. I will just stay focused and keep trying to get better.

“The World Cup has given me added belief and also motivation to keep pushing."
