Celtic target Andraz Sporar in middle of transfer tug of war as Sporting Lisbon face fresh battle to land striker

In-demand Andraz Sporar is facing a signing dilemma after his protracted move to Sporting Lisbon stalled.

The Slovan Bratislava striker held talks with Celtic last month before the Hoops moved for Polish forward Patryk Klimala in a £3.5m deal.

And Sporar, who revealed his first choice was a switch to the Primeira Liga, was expected to complete a £6.5m move to Portugal last week.

But A Bola claim Besiktas are now in the frame and have opened talks with Bratislava over the prospect of bringing him to Turkey.

Sporar is in high demand with the 26-year-old scoring 20 times already for his club this season, including seven goals in the Europa League.

It's understood Bruno Fernandes' on-off move to Manchester United is not a deciding factor in Sporar failing to complete his transfer to Lisbon.

And the news Besiktas are looking to muscle in on one of the most sought after strikers on the continent comes days after Bratislava's no-nonsense message to Jorge Silas' side.

The club's general manager Ivan Kmotrík said: "The reports from Portugal are not entirely true. While we confirm we are in negotiations with Sporting Lisbon, we are not as close as they suggest. We are still a long way apart.

"We have clearly defined requirements and conditions under which we are willing to agree to transfer and we see no reason to reduce our demands. The offer we accept must match the player's current value.

"Clubs from other countries like England, Spain and France also show interest on Andraz and we have received another offer. But Sporting's offer has not yet met our demands.

"He is still our player and at this moment, he is preparing for the next part of the season."
