Celtic 'target' £17m Wolves winger Daniel Podence

Celtic are believed to be at the front of the queue for Portuguese winger Daniel Podence.

Wolves signed Podence for £17m from Olympiakos in January, but he has failed to make an impact and has played just 42 minutes in the Premier League.

Podence, who began his career at Sporting Lisbon, has played nine times for Portugal's under-21s.

According to The Mirror, Celtic are frontrunners among a number of clubs keen to take him on loan this season.

Following a trip to Portugal, Podence missed his side's defeat against Arsenal due to quarantine rules. The Molineux club applied for special dispensation to ensure his availability for their match against Sheffield United, but he remained on the bench as Nuno Espirito Santo's side lost 1-0.

Celtic begin the defence of their Premiership title against Hamilton Accies at Celtic Park on Sunday August 2, and will travel to France next week to take part in the Veolia Trophy.

Neil Lennon's men face Nice on Thursday, before meeting up with Moussa Dembele on Saturday when they take on Olympique Lyonnais and taking on PSG on the 21st.
