Celtic survey questions answered as Parkhead fans remind Ange Postecoglou not all blame can be pinned on the board

Celtic fans watched dreams of 10 In A Row turn into a nightmare last year and many fans will still be hurting after a dreadful season.

Lacklustre performances and poor recruitment were compounded by the fact rivals Rangers romped to an undefeated Scottish Premiership season and became the quickest champions ever.

The crucial summer rebuild began as the season came to a close - and after Eddie Howe 's infamous 'arrival' fell through, Ange Postecoglou stepped up.

Celtic got rid of the deadwood but lost some big names along the way as well while bringing in 12 new faces.

The rebuild was always going to take time, but a few early results and exciting performances had Hoops fans dreaming again.

As the season got into full swing Record Sport asked Celtic fans to give their views on how they reckon the season will pan out.

Perhaps the biggest finding of the survey was that less than half of the Parkhead faithful said they would fully blame the board if Postecoglou fails to deliver the Scottish Premiership title.

Only 43 per cent said all of the blame should go to Celtic chiefs if they don't recover the trophy.

Meanwhile, after his strong start to the season 82 per cent of fans reckon Kyogo Furuhashi will become a club legend - compared with just 4 per cent tipping Carl Starfelt to become a Hoops icon.

While Celtic look a lot more dangerous in attack they have continued to leak goals in recent weeks, and 70 per cent of supporters insist the main area of the squad which still needs to be strengthened is defence.

In the wake of the pandemic, 68 per cent do not believe the club have done enough to help supporters financially in terms of ticket prices.

And even before a ball was kicked in the Europa League, 46 per cent of supporters reckoned Celtic wouldn't make it past the group stages of the competition. Given their poor start to the competition, those pessimistic predictions may have been well placed.

Read on for all the crucial results below.

If Celtic fail to win the league, how much of the blame should be placed on the club's board?

All of it - 43 per cent

Majority of it - 38 per cent

Some of it - 13 per cent

None - 5 per cent

So less than half will put all of the blame on the board if title number 52 does not arrive. But a further 38 per cent will place the majority of their blame on them, so it's fair to say Celtic chiefs will still have a lot to answer for from supporters if that trophy doesn't arrive.

Based on what you've seen so far - or just your gut feeling - how will these summer signings fare?

Interesting findings from this poll. Furuhashi is the clear frontrunner among supporters to become a Parkhead legend - while Hart, Abada, Juranovic and Jota are also hotly tipped.

Meanwhile Starfelt, McCarthy, Urhoghide and Shaw have been the signings fans have been least impressed with.

Which areas of the squad still need to be strengthened despite the summer arrivals?

Attack - 11 per cent

Midfield - 19 per cent

Defence - 70 per cent

Clearly fans have not been impressed with recruitment at the back, while the arrival of the likes of Kyogo, Jota and Abada mean they are fairly confident in their attack.

In the wake of the pandemic, do you think the club has done enough to help supporters financially in terms of domestic and European ticket prices?

Yes - 31 per cent

No - 69 per cent

Supporters making their feelings clear here, with over two thirds reckoning ticket prices are too high in the wake of the pandemic.

What's a realistic target in this season's Europa League?

Group stage exit - 46 per cent

Last 32 - 34 per cent

Last 16 - 15 per cent

Quarter-finals and beyond - 5 per cent

Bearing in mind this survey was launched before a ball was kicked in the Europa League, Celtic fans clearly weren't too confident of qualification through their tough group. A 4-3 defeat at Real Betis and a 4-0 home lose to Bayer Leverkusen will only have compounded those fears.
